The heart of the matter

I find myself increasingly drawn to creating images that are more abstract interpretation than literal documentation of a given subject. I try to see the subject in a new way, or find the essence of what it is that attracted me to a subject in the first place. In this case, it was the emerging spines of this cactus. They seem to almost erupt from the top of the plant, in a never-ending fashion.

The beauty of photography is that each of us can look at the same subject, and see something different. Our job is to effectively capture and present that unique vision, and in turn help others to see the world from a new perspective.
