Duiker

Duiker

The Duiker is a small antelope native to Sub-Saharan Africa. There are several subspecies of Duiker, with some living in the rain forests, and others occupying moist savannas. Their numbers in the wild vary – Duiker subspecies range from vulnerable to critically endangered – but all are threatened due to hunting, deforestation and habitat loss. Duiker are hunted not only for meat, but for their horns, which some believe can ward off “evil spirits.”
