2013-12-02 ‘Tis the Season
So how’s the shopping going? I have resisted the bargains… for the most part. Thankfully, I finished most of my shopping for others about ten days ago. I haven’t picked up anything for myself yet, mainly because I’m saving up for that Olympus 40-150mm f/2.8 with matching 1.4x teleconverter [insert drool here] that’s coming in the second half of next year. The E-M1 is looking awfully tempting though… as is the new Olympus 12-40mm f/2.8… and the Panasonic GX7… and the Panasonic/Leica 15mm f/1.7 coming next year… and… well, you get the picture(pun intended).
You know what I’m really looking forward to with great anticipation? The Panasonic G7. I assume we’ll see a G7 around the middle of 2014, and I’m guessing/hoping it will have the new Panasonic sensor currently found in the GX7. The Panasonic G5, which was used for all these images, is a wonderful little camera – fast, responsive, great single-shot autofocus, excellent ergonomics, logical menus, and the best “quick menu” in the business. All it really needs is a state-of-the-art sensor. If prices hold steady, a G7 with a new sensor would be an outstanding bargain.
